What is the best way to experience Pilates?

Private lessons are the best way to begin your Pilates training. You and your instructor will discuss your individual goals and health history, assess your alignment, core control, overall strength and flexibility and design an individualized work out to get you started. In time you will be introduced to the different pieces of Pilates equipment and you'll be able to determine which classes are appropriate for you to continue your practice in a group setting.

Can I practice Pilates if I'm pregnant?

Yes! However, it is important that you work with an instructor who is knowledgeable about the anatomical and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and how pregnancy affects the abdominal muscles. We recommend private sessions so we can tailor the workouts to be specific for mothers in their second and third trimester.

What should I wear?

You should wear clothing that is comfortable to work out in. Try to avoid oversized attire that would make it difficult for the instructor to observe your body during the session. Pilates is practiced barefoot or in socks.

How many times a week should I do Pilates?

2-3 times a week is a good balance. This can include private or semi-private sessions and/or mat, tower , or reformer classes. You will be pleasantly surprised how well you feel after only a few weeks. Consistency is the key to change!

Can I start by taking Mat Classes?

Yes, but we highly recommend that you start with our Intro. to Mat class, even if you do not have any major injuries. If you do have major injuries, you may participate in this class, but definitely not our regular Mat Classes. However, we highly recommend the New Client Special as the smartest way to begin. This will ensure that your work out is appropriate for your specific needs. Your instructor will teach you how to modify the exercises practiced in class to prevent yourself from further injury and how to participate safely.

How soon will I get results?

Every "body" is unique and will respond to the Pilates work at it's own pace. Creating new movement habits and a new physique is a process that requires patience, effort, and commitment. Real and lasting change happens over time. The great thing about Pilates is that you have fun and feel wonderful all along the way.
